The Lisners Family

After a number of years of weekend camping and renting at Pebbly Beach we aspired to purchase a block in the area. On the advice of Alan Moore we learnt of a Crown auction to be held on 5th January 1972 of 3 blocks in Fairly Street with a reserve price of $1650 per block. These blocks had been originally allocated under the ballot system in 1959-1960 and the land had been cleared. Eleven years later regrowth had covered the blocks with spotted gums to about 3 metres high.

The first block, lot  2 of section 3 was purchased by Len Cook after lively bidding for $3600 which was well beyond the reserve. Fearing increasing bidding on the remaining 2 blocks I opened the bidding at $4000 and surprisingly did not get any counter bids. The final block was subject to very hectic bidding and was sold for $4650.

Details of the auction advice and conditions of purchase attached as a PDF.
